Plenty of parents are looking for tutors with past experiences in teaching the subject areas which are required. Some also require the tutor to have good results. I feel that if the tutor has got the capabilities to coach, no matter what his/her results, the tutee is going to reap some benefits. For example, in university, although some teaching assistants perhaps have scored very well in their research projects or thesis, however it does not necessary mean that they are able to teach effectively. It all depends upon the teaching approach. Therefore I feel that despite the fact that good results and practical experience form the basis of a tutor requirement, but the most crucial thing is still the teaching method.
I will list some tips for tutors:
1. Talk with the parents when the kid is not being attentive to you. If you were to raise your voice at the student, the child may get disliking towards you or complain about you to their dad and mom. Many parents also dislike the method of you raising your voice at their youngster.
2. Do not change the tuition class time without due cause or too last minute. Certain parents think that these kinds of tutors are irresponsible as it would imply that the tutors do not organize his/her time well.
3. Create bonds with the student. There exists a need for good communication and interaction between yourself and pupil so that it will be much easier to express during lessons. The kid will also feel more at ease in your presence and so, will be more willing to seek advice within the lesson.
4. Provide the kid more opportunities to communicate throughout lessons. For instance, rather than reading through the mathematics question to him/her, ask him/her to read through to you. This helps the child practice his/her oral skills and in addition help him/her to understand the question better. The child might become more at ease to talk in your presence.
5. When the attention span of the child is deteriorating, tutors have to learn how to switch subjects or allow the kid a break. A five minutes break would make wonders for a kid. On the other side, if you think a 5 minutes break is way too much, you can opt to converse about the child's day in school, improve interaction between yourself and the kid.
In the end, I think that interaction is extremely important for a child. Good interaction will aid the child in studying. So schools always promote family interaction with the child, it's critical for parents to find out how their child is behaving or learning so as to better assist the child. As being a tutor, I would suggest parents to concentrate on their children studies and keep a good bond with the tutors, as a way to create an even better studying process or lessons.
