By far one of the most popular Grand Canyon bus tours is the one that leaves from Las Vegas and goes to the South Rim. I picked up one of these tours for $80 and it didn't disappoint. Here's my trip review:I have to say this is one of the tours to the Grand Canyon for under $100. It's all-inclusive and comes with free hotel pick up and drop off, lunch, and a professional driver guide. This particular tour operator picked me up at my Las Vegas Strip hotel on time. I knocked back a cup of strong coffee, a blueberry muffin, and found my seat. The luxury motor coach was impressive. The seats were plush and the window's had draw-down sun blinds (handy for the ride back). Each person had their own A/C, cup holders, and table trays. I counted at least seven TVs. I also got a headset for the pre-recorded trip narration. This is not a short trip. One-way drive time is 5.5 hours. There are several well-timed comfort breaks, as well as a Hoover Dam photo stop (more on this later). Total tour time is about 15 hours. I got back to my hotel around 9 p.m.The route over followed the edge of Lake Mead (sit on the left side). We crossed the Colorado River/Black Canyon using the new Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge, which rises 900 feet above the river. Unlike other tours, ours detoured on the Arizona side for photos of the Dam. Definitely make sure this is included in your package. Our bus purred along to Williams, AZ, before turning north for the last 60 miles to Grand Canyon National Park. Here you can extend your tour to include a South Rim helicopter tour. It takes you through the Dragoon Corridor, the widest, deepest part of the canyon.I stuck with the basic Grand Canyon by bus tour. Our drive took us to Mather Point and Yavapai Observation Center. The views were spectacular. I especially enjoyed the view from Mather. The first time you see the canyon is truly a breathtaking moment. The time we were given at these lookouts was more than adequate. We got dropped off at the Bright Angel Lodge, the hub of the Grand Canyon Village. Plenty to do here. El Tovar Hotel, the Rim Trail, the Bright Angel Trail (takes you under the rim) and the Lodge itself. A box lunch is provided. More food can be had a the restaurant inside the Lodge or at the snack bar near the edge.I mentioned earlier that this canyon bus tour can be had for around $80. To get that deal, you have to shop the Internet. There are several out there. Make sure you get the one that gives you up to three hours at the rim comes with all Park fees. I also recommend that you book this trip in advance. This Grand Canyon by bus tour is the best deal out there. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. You must be willing to allocate an entire day to this trip. Departure time is always around 7 a.m. Return is in the late evening. That might sound like and endurance test but it's not. Buses these days are the epitome of comfort. No trip to Las Vegas is complete without a trip to the canyon. Make it happen. Take the Grand Canyon bus.
