The many twists and plot changes throughout the movie will keep you engaged and entertained. With a strong plot and excellent performances, Star Trek (2009) proves to be a movie worth a watch. The movie starts with Officer George Kirk of the USS Kelvin trying to save the lives of his crew members when his ship is attacked by another ship. He was looking for Ambassador Spock, who is a child on Vulcan at that time, disdained by his neighbors for his half-human nature. As Kirk sets the Kelvin on a collision course with Nero's massive ship, the Nerada, Kirk hears his wife in her escape medical ship give birth to a son who they name "Jim" just moments before Kirk dies.
James T. Kirk (Jim) as a young adult wishes to follow in his father's footsteps and later joins Starfleet. Soon, Vulcan comes under attack by Nero and his crew, threatening to cause the planet to disappear into a black hole. Spock comes to the rescue of several Vulcan leaders including his Vulcan father, Sarek and his human mother.
The movie shows its emotional side when Spock is shown as a helpless man who couldn't save his mother and watches her being swept away to death. At the same time, Kirk is preparing himself for a huge challenge ahead.
Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Eric Bana have given splendid performances and done full justice to their roles. You will find a sharp connect between the two main protagonists- Kirk and Spork, who both have lost a parent. This very feeling will instantly help you relate to these two wonderfully crafted characters.
