I am an avid gadget fan, and am always looking to download ebooks. i own the kindle, ipad and galaxy ereaders, i like all 3 for differnt reasons but my favourite is definatly the ipad for its sleek design and complete feel, it really is a do all gadget, replacing books laptop and mobile phone all in one and still small enough to carry around. However the one thing that the ipad doesnt come with is lots of ebooks to read when you buy it.
I searched long and hard online for the best places to download ebooks, in this article i will share how i get access to ebooks for all 3 devices.
The first recomendation is Scribd, this is a totally free service that once signed up to you can search the whole site, which has many ebooks including new releases and classic novels many of which are top quality and very useful. The site also has hundreds of white (research papers) paper for download as well as newspapers and old comics. The only drawbacks are that some of the books have been scanned using OCR software so you find many words misspelled or in some cases making no sense. The other problem is i have found some works particularly new ebooks for download are not uploaded by the authors or copyright owners but spammers so can contain spyware or viruses which if downloaded can infect your tablet eraeader or laptop.
The next recomendation is for Download ebooks online service, this is a very nifty new service which is subscription based but cost just $20 but allows users access to their entire 40,000 books for download directly to your ereader device. I found that when you download ebooks from this service they all come in the standard epub format which is compatible with all of my ereader devices and users have access to download all the ebooks on the site instantly. The best point about this service is that it give the subscribers peice of mind as there is no worries about spyware because it is not like scribd which allows anyone to upload anything to the site. so all ebooks are verified and safe.
