With rumors of a smaller iPhone around since last week, the latest report from Digitimes is certainly interesting. According to the release, Apple could expand the screen of the next generation iPhone to 4 inches, mainly to compete with many Android phones that come with larger screens than the iPhone 4.

In terms of intelligent design, the iPhone has always had what would be regarded as a screen smaller than 3.5 inches. While this has not been a problem for Apple in terms of sales appeal, people in search of larger screens were more or less forced to use a device or Windows Android Phone. For those of you who are waiting for Apple to take a bigger screen before jumping on board, the wait could soon be over.

According to reports in Taiwan, where many of Apple's products are manufactured components, Apple has shown interest in increasing the size of the iPhone screen to four inches. This would put the iPhone in the same group of devices including Dell headquarters Galaxy Pro S line and Samsung.

As discussed above, the new iPhone would have a screen measuring 4 inches from top to bottom. The main difference in this concept would be an additional dynamic 'Home Dock' was added in the bottom of the screen that offer not only basic functions initially provided by the start button and return to the home screen or to search function , but also provide additional functionality. This portion of the screen, almost an inverse version of the excellent SB application settings available in Cydia store, essentially remain separate from the rest of the screen, which means that Apple could still keep the original resolution iPhone, which facilitates developers.

The new 'Home Dock' act as a space where all the basic functions of the iPhone could be controlled (also appreciate that our selections icon on the image does not make sense, but you get the idea). The volume buttons on the side of the iPhone could disappear, like the lock button on the top of the iPhone. The new 'Home Dock' could control functions such as energy, volume lock, search, brightness, NFC, WiFi and Bluetooth, and a number of other functions.

The lack of a start button is in line with recent rumors that have circulated suggesting that the next generation iPhone and iPad miss the start button. The function of this new "Home Dock 'may or may not appear in the next iPhone, but 4" vertical screen worth thinking about.
