Windows update is very important to protecting your computer against viruses. Some people will go into windows and find programming flaws, then they will take advantage of these flaws in the programming and write viruses; the viruses are then released and begin to damage peoples computers. When windows finds out about this danger to peoples computers they create what's called a patch. A patch's job is to fix these problems in the program therefore getting rid of the virus. Now the only way for you to get these patches is through windows updates. Now say you don't have windows updates on, you are left very vulnerable to all of these viruses. Now if you want to turn windows updates on, you're going to want to make your way over to your control panel, then click on system security, if you're using windows xp it will be called security center. Now find the windows update section and turn them bad boys on. In the important updates section, you're going to want to click install updates automatically and then polish it off with an ok in the bottom right hand corner, and then you're good to go.
