Reinstalling Windows from a system image is important when you install a new hard drive. If you thought ahead you would have created a system image and stored it somewhere. A system image is an exact copy of what was on your C drive. Now it's time to take that system image and put it on a brand-new hard drive.
If you put your system image on a portable hard drive you're going to plug this in with your computer off, if you put your system image on a disk then you're going to want to turn on your computer and put your system restore disk in quickly, the computer will now prompt you to press any key, your disc will begin to load. When the system recovery options appears, click next and choose your current keyboard layout. Now you're going to choose restore your computer using a system image that you created earlier and click next. Your computer will automatically find the system image on your portable hard drive, and if you stored your system image on DVDs then eject your system repair disc and insert your first DVD of your system image and click retry, the program will then find your system image on the DVD. Click on the format and repartition disks option if asked and then click next, and to finish things off approve the date and time of the system image, and then finally click yes to complete your hard drive installation.
