Gozo is an absolutly beautiful island in the south of Europe near Malta, one of the best reason 1000s of people like to go on holiday in Gozo is because it is perfect for anyone who loves sea, nature, green scenaries and have a little adventurer side.
In Gozo you can have long walks, cycle or even hike alone or with a group, Gozo has a very low traffic not like all the other med islands low traffic means of course a lower amount of polution which is very important to many of us when having a bit of time off abroad.
In summer time, if you do not like the heat, it is a good idea to have a walk at night near the beautiful beaches, restaurants and hotels, having a dinner with your partner right in front of the sea in a quiet restaurant is one of the best time while enjoying your holidays in Gozo near the island of Malta.
In order to travel to Gozo, people first have to book a plane and fly to Malta, from there, you will need to take a taxi and drive down to the Ferry, this huge boat will take you to the island of Gozo in about 30 minutes, it is a nice trip and will give you enough time to relax and have a tea or coffee onboard.
What can be seen while spending a few days or weeks on this island?
The first stop will have to be the very well known Azure window, it is about 50 meters high, in winter time the sea pounder violently against the rock, you can take incredible pictures at this point. This arch or window is split in the middle, in a few years time, experts believe that it will fall into the sea.
Not far from the Azur window, a big Rock can be seen, it is called the Fungus Rock, it has apparently a Fungus or plant which has powerful healing properties.
Many divers are keen to explore the sea around this large area due to the vast amount fish and natural habitat that can be found.
Victoria, the capital city of Gozo, the medieval town was given this name in 1887 i the honor of the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria. Gozo Capital consists of a very old citatel surrounded by underground networks which have been used a lot during the world war 2. In this citadel can be found multiple cultural and historic sites available to anyone during the summer and even winter time.
The Citadel has huge fortified walls all around, from the top you can view pretty much the full of the island of Gozo.
Many other sites are available to tourism, Gozo is maybe a very small island but it has a lot of beaches, cultural and historical sites. This wonderful island has something very special, it is peaceful, calm, the local people are very helpful, just take a map with you, rent a jeep or just a normal car and then enjoy your time with your family.
