A good painting to shine up your SUV up van may lose you more than you gain. A good job requires a little time, talent and clobber. Really one might be actually be just about as good as the other and you'll be in the chips with the cheaper job.
A low overhead, a low margin of profit and a volume business can give the chance for one shop to charge bargain basement costs and turn out a job that will stand up for some years. But cutting pries might also mean scrimping.
If you have ever painted a car perhaps a fence you know that a job requires a little time, patience and a good degree of ability. There are plenty of possibilities for taking shortcuts. Or skipping assorted steps during the process. These are some defects that might show up over time in a corner cutting painting. The most common defect is "Peeling". Peeling is what occurs most frequently. Often the entire paint film lifts off down to bare metal and you can see rust that was not removed. Or the sealing has not stuck to the primer coat or finish stuck to sealer. Next in line is wrinkling. Wrinkling is a condition you can almost always blame on the individual or women that did the job. Perhaps too heavy a lick of paint was applied. Or the painter might have employed a thinner that dried too quickly.
In good weather this will produce an especially heavy coat which should surface dry too fast. Insufficient thinner is a different reason for wrinkling. Cracking and checking may come from too much haste in turning out the job. Applying finish coasts before the coats underneath dry could have happened. Surprising temperature changes or the movement of body panels may result in fine cracks. Should you take back a defective job like this the painter may tell you that that "spotting in" would fix it up. It won't. The entire panel must be totally refinished. Poor preparation of the metal always causes blisters and bubbles. Maybe assorted steps were missed or fudged. Moisture or oil in the air line of the spray gun could cause blisters as well . These conditions may blister the best painting.
Even close by chemical plants or pollution could cause this as well . How are you able to avoid such defects and issues? True in even in a full highly priced job, a few of these defects some or perhaps all of these defects can show up. But your percentages of missing them are way better. Above all, know the store and its reputation. If you're dubious stand around awhile and watch. You may well do this while hanging around for your guess. After all it's your SUV. Your car is the best illustration of you. Taking care and intensive is always the best policy.
