Are you organized, someone who can multi-task, who loves a challenge?Are you a people person, who has the ability to makes a lot of contacts and does not usually have problems getting thing done your way?Then you may be interested in a career in Event management.

The average person who works in Event management manages the design and planning of all types of meetings and special events for a business or organization. They are in charge of the locations and amenities of the event. They may monitor as well as control the event business and negotiates the contracts that are required to hold the event as well as much, much more. This is someone with a can-do attitude who isn't intimidated by challenges. It is important to understand and know the specifics of the event. They spend a great deal of time making sure that the event happens like it should. After three to five years, for good performance, one will be rewarded with a well paying salary of about $75000 or more.

Some people come into a career in Event management with no formal training whatsoever. Many times these are people who have worked in a business, or hospitality career and found themselves good at performing such task, and found or created a career doing Event management. Some have pursued professional training, earning a Bachelor's degree in marketing, hospitality, tourism or even business administration. Though most even management positions don't require it, you may consider pursuing a master's degree or MBA in hospitality management if you want to work major conventions, trade shows or Olympic-sized events.

This career can provide plenty of excitement and is rewarding for a person that meets the qualifications. With billions and billions of dollars spent every year on special events and the market continuing to grow, you will find more and more opportunities to break into this career locally as well as globally. If you are serious about a career in Event management you may want to start with small local events. You can get experience and exposure by volunteering for community events. Discern what sort of events is your specialty and shift your focus there. Get specialized training in wedding planning or other types of events, but most of all enjoy yourself.
