If you're a control freak who thinks nothing will go right unless you have your hands in it, you might want to skip this article. But, if you happen to be someone who might feel a little jealous when you hear the sounds of laughter and fun escaping your own family room while your serving the second round of meatballs, the please, read on.

We've all been guilty of it at some point in our lives and some of us are repeat offenders. We prepare for the best holiday party, slave for about a week insuring that everything, every hors d'oeuvre is picture perfect. We do take the time to great each guest warmly as they file through the door and then we leave them to their own devices because we have self-imposed kitchen duty. Oh sure we pop in periodically to bring out more food and to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves; but what about you, are you enjoying yourself? If you dare to stop and think about it, just when was the last time you attended your own holiday party from beginning to end? Perhaps, just once, you could give up the responsibility of serving your guests, relinquish that responsibility to a caterer, and for once you get to relax and enjoy your own party. It can happen for you and it's as simple grabbing a phonebook, looking up caterers, and making the call.

It's true, for some giving up that kind of control to a stranger may be hard at first and a bit uncomfortable. There's always the tinge of guilt you will feel when you picture yourself actually out among your guests, laughing and talking instead of being in the kitchen on high-alert waiting for the exact moment to bring out more chips and dips. C'mon, face it. At holiday parties, your guests, friends and family, don't even know you anymore. Your the caterer. OK, there is a sense of pride when they swoon over your meatballs. But for all they know, they just love the meatballs you serve every year, and this year the caterer brought them.

It's time to be bold, and leave it to the professionals for a change. There is absolutely nothing you can do that a qualified caterer can't. Chances are very good that they can do some things you never thought about. They make it their business to provide culinary delights that can make your party a standout, crowd pleaser. From simple appetizers to elegant ice sculptures, no request is too big or too small for a professional caterer. It should not surprise you to discover that the cost of a caterer is not much different than the cost to do it yourself when you consider all the food, time, prep, clean-up and waste. What's the cost to you of never being able to spend any quality time with your family and friends at your own holiday parties? That's where the real cost comes in. Life is so short, isn't it time you became the guest of honor at your holiday party? Hire a caterer; let them be envious of the warm laughter emanating from the family room this year.
