The stress of moving home is high up on all stress related charts. It can really take its toll with all the different things that need organising, sorting out and dealing with. From the purchase and sale of your own home, to the utilities, councils, solicitors, banks, mortgage companies, removals men.
This is all not including if your moving with children or pets...
The older we get and the longer we have lived in a house for the harder it will become to move.
Hording is a personal favorite of mine and of course adds to the logistics when I have had many years of doing so. It causes boxes for charity, boxes for dumping, boxes for recycling and of course boxes of things I still can't just let go of.
The buying and selling process within the UK adds to the madness. What with buyers able to drop out, change dates or them having to rely upon their buyers who can also drop out at the drop of a hat.
Alas there is help on its way. We now have what is called Moving Managers! They will assist in the entire process from a basic help package all the way through to dealing with the sales and purchase of a new home.
So instructing a Move Managing Company to assist can start with the finding the right home for you to buy. They will instruct an agent to sell your existing home and get solicitors together that they will happily hound on a regular basis, on your behalf. Of course dealing with a sale and purchased, all involved in a chain, can be very stressful at the best of times. So having a company happy to deal with all this on our behalf, in itself seems like a great concept.
They'll switch over the utilities at both ends, organise and work with the removal company. Work through what goes in what box. The possessions to keep, remove and throw and to take to charity.
Once all that's covered they'll even walk round shopping centres with you organising all our future needs, such as ovens, fridge freezers, microwaves even a new pet to compliment the new home!
It sounds to good to be true but this service sector is springing up all over the UK at the moment and instructing them seems to have become quite a trend.
The cost of this varies, depending on which package or options are chosen.
Based on my last move, I look forward to handing it all over to one of these Move Companies to handle it all for us.
