Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, of the Philippines, has won his last 13 fights against prime fighters. Most of his wins were knockouts and unanimous decisions. Only Juan Manuel Marquez, who fought Pacquiao in March 15, 2008, came close to winning but lost to a split decision.
"Sugar" Shane Mosley, of the USA, has won his first 37 fights mostly against Lightweights and Welterweights. He has won championship fights against decent boxers in the Welterweight division, the division where Pacquiao Mosley will meet on May 7. Mosley's last two fights ended in a draw against Sergio Mora and a lopsided loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. Prior to his last two fights he won via TKO against the feared Antonio Margarito and the hard-hitting Ricardo Mayorga.
In most Pacquiao vs Mosley prediction, Pacquiao is the heavy favorite because he came from a 13 winning streak while Mosley's last 2 fights were hinting everyone that he is already past his prime - at his old age of 39.
All has been said and done. The Pacquiao Mosley fight is final. Both Manny Pacquiao and Shane Mosley have signed the contract and the deal is already closed. This may not be the fight we wanted but this is what we will get. We all know that Pacquiao deserves a better match-up than this - Berto, Marquez, Mayweather, Martinez, Bradley, etc. But since this is what Bob Arum believes to be a good match-up then we will still watch it because it's a Pacquiao fight.
On Pacquiao and Mosley's common opponents
Manny Pacquiao and Shane Mosley both fought Antonio Margarito, Oscar dela Hoya, and Miguel Cotto. "Pacman" has won against all three premier opponents in the higher weight class where he is not used to fighting. Mosley has won against Margarito and dela Hoya but lost to Miguel Cotto in a lopsided defeat.
Shane fought the "Golden Boy" dela Hoya in 2000 and 2003. This was the time when Oscar what at his best, hammering against solid lightweights and welterweights and has been handling the limelight in this division. He was boxing biggest draw during those times when Shane Mosley won against him - not once, but twice. Predictions of those bouts were mostly in favor to Oscar but Mosley won both fights in a Unanimous Decision. In 2008, Pacquiao also fought Oscar dela Hoya. He made dela Hoya retired in the 8th round of the fight because he landed his punches at will. Oscar doesn't know how to end Pacquiao's rampage against him so they decided to wave the white towel. It was at the twilight of the Golden Boy's career which made him an easy prey for Pacquiao. After that fight dela Hoya never fought again.
"Sugar" also faced Miguel Cotto prior to "Pacman" facing the latter. It was an unlucky day for Mosley for losing against an unbeaten welterweight. It was for the WBA Super World Welterweight Title but Mosley's energy wasn't quite enough during that time.
Manny Pacquiao encountered Cotto in November 2009. He KO Miguel in the first few and middle rounds and ended the fight in the 12th round via TKO.
Manny Pacquiao then became a Congressman in the Philippines by winning the May 2010 polls. He was elected as Representative of Sarangani province. His first fight as a congressman was against Antonio Margarito. Many dubbed Margarito as "the most feared welterweight" of all time. A lot people predicted that Antonio will stop Pacquiao's winning streak because he is 15 or so lbs heavier coming into the ring when he fought "Pacman". The prediction of Manny's corner was to stop the "Tijuana Tornado" in the 8th round but didn't come true. The fight ended in a unanimous decision victory in favor of Pacquiao.
Shane Mosley stopped Margarito more impressively compared to Pacquiao. The 8th and 9th rounds of that fight were the most brutal rounds of Antonio Margarito's career. Mosley made the corner of Margarito stopped the murderous battle which won "Sugar" Shane the WBA Super World Welterweight Title - which Antonio Margarito got from Miguel Cotto who won against Mosley.
Base on the Pacquiao Mosley opponents, even though Pacquiao has won against all three, Mosley still has the slight edge because he has won against Oscar de la Hoya twice and knocked out Antonio Margarito who Pacquiao didn't KO even just once.

Manny Pacquiao is currently trained by celebrated coach Freddie Roach. Roach has been awarded trainer of the year for many years already. He also trains Amir Khan and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr among many others.
Roach has been Pacquiao's "dad" since he started training the southpaw Manny Pacquiao. Their communication has been great and has won most of their fights together. Roach was a boxer himself but boxing was not his luck - until he discovered he can train. He developed Pacquiao from a boxer to an all around fighter who now knows how to defend and throw combination punches.
Included in Manny Pacquiao's team is Alex Ariza, the head conditioning coach of Manny. Alex has been working in the gym to keep athletes fit and healthy for battle. One day, Roach tapped him and ask for his service so he joined Team Pacquiao. Ariza was the main man in giving Pacquiao the correct diet and exercises so he can move up in weight but still maintain his power and speed.
We saw Pacquiao's move in weight class in the last 4 years but his stamina, foot work and combination were still there - that's the work of Alex Ariza.
In Shane Mosley's corner is Naazim Richardson. His prediction on Pacquiao vs Mosley is that Mosley will pull an upset on May 7 against Pacquiao. He is an American Boxing Trainer who trains Bernard Hopkins, a prime heavyweight who has been famous in the sports. Richardson is a devout Muslim who also knows how to defeat prime fighters and Pacquiao is not an excuse. His gym in Big Bear, California will hold Shane Mosley for a while to prepare his future hall of fame fighter against the number 1 boxer in the world.
In 2007, Richardson suffered a stroke that nearly caused loss of the entire left side of his body and prevented him from attending Hopkins' fight versus Joe Calzaghe. When he returned to boxing, Naazim became Mosley's trainer for the two of the biggest fights of Shane's career - a win over Margarito and a loss to Mayweather Jr.
Manny Pacquiao will spend his training camp in Baguio City, Philippines then in Wild Card Gym, USA. Pacquiao's training camp is always focused on stamina, speed and power. The team studies the previous fights of Shane Mosley and look for flaws. Shane Mosley on the other hand will try his best to give more effort on training. He will be up against the pound-for-pound king so he surely knows that this will not be taken for granted. Team Mosley will be more focus on this fight compared to the last two fights because they believed that if they can win this one, a lot of higher paying fights will be on their way.
