Crappie's have many aliases such as calico bass, speckled bass, white perch, pole crappie, strawberry bass, and papermouth. Reguardless of the name or aliases the speckled bass is well equipped for taste and smell. The calico bass have extraordinary olfactory organs for smelling and taste buds to determine flavor. The best response came from crappie fishing baits sprayed scents and tastes that imitate small crayfish, crappie minnows such as fathead minnows, and shiners with shad imitations close behind.
