In this article I'll review the new Macbook Pro 15 inch that just been launched a couple of months ago. This new Macbook for my part is a great improvement from the previous Macbook. I'll discuss what new hardware comes with the 2011 Macbook Pro 15 inch.
Okay without any further ado below is my review for the new 2011 Macbook Pro 15 Inch:
The Processor
As you may know the brand new 2011 Macbook Pro 15 inch comes with a brand new processor and that's the core i7 quad core processor. The 2010 version of Macbook also comes with the core i7 processor but they're only dual core not quad core.
The benefit of the quad core processor is, four physical cores that working together that makes it quicker than the dual core counterparts. You will notice performance increase when starting applications and doing other processor intensive process such as processing videos and audios.
If you like creating videos then you'll love the brand new quad core processors mainly because it is going to be a lot quicker compared to the old Macbook Pro.
The Graphics
The 2011 Macbook Pro 15 Inch comes with the AMD Radeon 6490 graphics card. This graphic card is pretty decent for enjoying video games and it's an excellent graphic card for watching HD movies. About playing video games with the HD6490, you need to know that most likely you won't be able to play the latest 3D video games with all the bells and whistles activated.
The HD6490 is an effective graphic card however it isn't meant for heavy gaming use mainly because it's not that powerful but if you solely need to encode movies and watch HD films then this card is more than adequate.
The Storage
For the storage, this new Macbook doesn't bring something new. On the Apple store you may choose to buy the Macbook with its default 500GB 5400RPM hard drive or upgrade it to the 7200RPM hard drive or you too can use SSD which is more expensive but also a lot faster than the common hard drive.
If you're interested to use the SSD, according to some sources on the internet, you're recommended not purchase SSD from Apple but buy it separately because some Macbook owners had a bad experience with SSDs purchased directly from Apple store.
The Memory
He default RAM for Macbook is 4GB of RAM and I think this is adequate but in case you want extra memory possibly because you are operating virtual machine then you can add more memory limited to 8GB or RAM. It is okay to improve the RAM yourself because if I'm not mistaken, the Apple guarantee said that you can change hard drive and RAM manually and you will not void your warranty doing so.
