Vigorous writing means using pointed, powerful English. It’s text that leaps out not because of ornamentation, but from the innate passion and single mindedness of its intention. Like a 90 lb child trying to move a 400 lb obstacle, it may or may not succeed, yet you marvel at the pureness of its effort.
Many people can write well. Armed with a grammar check software, even average skilled people can fashion quality material. Rather than just trudge through its message, vigorous text does so courageously, with all its might. It may not come with a bullet proof supporting argument for its thesis, but the passion seething out of every word from it explodes with exuberance. It has heart.
Having plenty of heart to dispense with, of course, is only one part of the equation. The rest can be filled up by a similarly forceful presentation. Here are a few ways that can be achieved.
Use short first paragraphs. One meaningful first paragraph (often just a short sentence) that can suck the reader in can suffice for many types of writing. The operative idea here, of course, is the fact that grabbing the reader’s attention is all it will do. Now, if it can divulge your main message, as well, then that’s even better. Always be direct. Let your paragraph possess the most captivating message for your readers. It is as if you had made their mind to comprehend or react with your point. At least you had make them more interested about the topic you are writing.
Avoid long sentences. Long sentences run a very specific risk: they can confuse the reader into forgetting your point. A minimalist and terse approach usually solves this, apart from feeling like bursts of pawing punches packed with zest smacking across your face, in preparation for a looping overhand that will knock you silly. Normally, long sentences make your readers feel bored. Also, it makes your content dull and unpleasing to read. So be sure to shorten your sentence, basic knowledge about the types of sentences must be a must so that you can alter or vary every sentence in your paragraph whenever it is needed. This is to make your paragraphs an interesting thing to read.
Be positive. The idea is to say what something is, rather than what it isn’t; to explain what it does, as opposed to what it doesn’t do. Negatively parlaying something sort of leads the reader into the wrong path – the one that the subject matter isn’t about. As long as you are stating your topic more in a positive side, then it is like you are informing them what the subject is all about.
Vigorous writing is like catching your reader’s interest. It will make them to wake up their minds and ideas about the facts that you are stating. Therefore, it is like creating your own technique and strategy in writing contents or any piece just to please your readers. You might become one of the great and creative writers someday. Just keep up the spirit in writing.
