The basics of the ollie is that you take your back foot and pop it into the ground hard enough so that the back wheels lift off of the ground, as you're doing this you want to jump. Then as the nose of the board rises into the air and your back wheels are no longer on the ground, you're going to want to push forward with your front foot into the nose. If done correctly pushing your front foot into the nose will lift the tail into the air so that you and your board will be completely lifted above the ground.
Again this process is easier said than done so I'm going to give you a few tips to make learning this trick easier. The first one is to learn this trick in the grass, this makes it so that there is no fear of falling and it makes it so you can balance better. Once you get this down you can try putting your back wheels on a solid surface and your front wheels in the grass, this makes it so that you can have the balance that grass provides and the pop of a solid surface. A common problem is that you and your board will turn as you do the ollie, you can fix this by keeping your shoulders aligned with the deck and by making sure you pop straight down
Once you get the timing to this trick down there are a few ways that you can improve upon it. First of all try to learn how to Ollie moving, this usually proves very difficult at first but just start slow and work your way up. Once you get this down you can work on ollieing over little cracks and off of sidewalks. Once you get good at this you can start lying larger and larger objects in front of you and ollieing over them, this is much more effective than just ollieing over open air because it encourages you to lift your legs higher and it gives you goals to reach with your ollies. Then once you can Ollie over decent sized objects you can take them to the streets and upgrade them into harder and more impressive tricks.
The most challenging part about this trick is mastering the balance and timing it takes to pop the skateboard in the air and land back on it. The key is to keep trying and to not give up. No matter what your difficulty is, it can be overcome with perseverance, just remember that if anyone else can do it, you can do it too. You will find that the longer it takes to learn this trick the more rewarding it'll feel when you actually get it down.
