Grandstands are large structures designed for seating spectators for an event. Usually they are permanent structures and they can include VIP seating as well as a press box for reporters and administrators. Grandstands can have basic bench seating or they may be equipped with individual chairs similar to a stadium. They are almost always multi tiered and some are covered with a roof that is open on the front. They differ from stadiums in that they are similar to a single section of a stadium whereas stadium seating will wrap all or most of the way around the viewing area. They are frequently found at sporting events, auto racing, horse racing, fairgrounds, circuses, rodeos, schools, universities, professional sports venues, amphitheaters and a variety of other outdoor areas.
The word “grandstand” has also entered our language as a verb. Often the word “grandstanding” is used to describe politicians or other public figures that are perceived to be over acting. The behavior of these same individuals can also be described as playing to the grandstand.

We offerGrandstands with I Beam construction design. This is one of the most popular designs because of its strength, usability, and design flexibility. In addition there are a number of features and options available. The entire steel understructure can be powder coated for enhanced protection against rust and corrosion. And there are a variety of powder coat colors to choose from. Stairs can be designed to match the site conditions and walkways underneath can be designed for spectator convenience. Slip resistant decking, guardrail posts with vinyl coated chain link fence, vertical picket railing, and open bay design for varied column spacing are a few of the other design choices and options available to the customer.
Our Grandstands can also be designed as elevated aluminum bleachers which many consider to be the safest, most durable grandstand available. The design utilizes the tube and channel understructure which is five times stronger and stiffer than conventional angle frame bleachers. The entire structure is aluminum which means it is highly resistant to rust and corrosion. Other features and options include a fully closed decking system to eliminate gaps in the bleacher deck, required maintenance performed from topside, mid aisle handrails between grandstand sections, powder coated seats and riserboards to match school colors, and higher elevation for improved line of sight.
There are many aspects of Grandstands to consider before purchase or renovation. The most important aspects are the roof / canopy, end use, accommodation, materials, entry / exit, and terracing. Each aspect should be thoroughly reviewed with our staff to plan and complete your grandstand project.
