They need 212 degrees Fahrenheit temperature to destroy bacteria. Processing time varies based on the food and container or jar size. Pressure canning is used for low-acid foods like vegetables. It requires a temperature of 240 degrees Fahrenheit for the bacteria to be killed.

Freezing is another technique of food canning such as fruits and veggies. It entails rapid steaming of foods, better known as blanching. Then quickly dunk them into the cold water to impede enzyme action. Drying, on the other hand, is an old or traditional but effective canning method of preserving fruits, meats and vegetables. It also consumes minimal storage space which makes it very desirable. What is great about canning foods is the fact that it does not only preserve your favorite food but also give you the opportunity to share it with your family and friends and become sure of the safety of your foods all the time.
