The second thing you need to think about when getting started blogging is your domain name. Some people may actually do this before the hosting but either way it makes no difference because you need both of them as much as they need each other. One thing I would say to do is choose your domain or blog name, around a search engine friendly keyword. This basically means do some keyword research when coming to pick your name which can be done via the Google keyword tool. I actually did not do this because I was not aware of it at the time, but this can be a good thing because it could help you in getting better search engine rankings in a shorter period of time. Do not try and run before you can walk or take one step forward and skip two because getting the basics right is a necessity, and can give you a solid head start online.
Once you have your domain name and hosting sorted, before getting started blogging you will have to set up your name servers towards your hosting service. You will or should get an e-mail from whatever hosting company you chose telling you how to do this. Once this is done it will take around 24-48 hours before your blog will be visible on the net. Once that finally happens, and you can test it by typing in your domain name in the address bar, you will be ready to dominate the search engines and start your journey to blogging success. One way of getting started blogging and dominating, is by picking a niche you want to talk about and then do some keyword research based around that niche.
