Starting your own business is a scary proposition. But, ultimately, it is what type of business you are starting that determines what you need. For example, many people start their own business by branching out from another business. A man who works for ten years in the air-conditioning business may quite to start his own. In this case, he has the contacts, the knowhow, and the resources to start his own business.
If this is you, then you most likely have all that you need.
If however, you want to start from scratch, here are some things you can consider doing without much money, or knowledge. A casual search on the internet may reveal different money making opportunities, but honestly, many of these are scams. The best business is one you start within your own community dealing with those with whom you live and do business with.
From there, you can expand.
The following story is about a single father who started his own business against all odds.
Nestled outside the hills of the Huachuca Mountains in southern Arizona is a small city called Sierra Vista. The town's population ranges around 35,000 and is located roughly ninety miles from Tucson, its economy derived in part from a nearby military base.
Living in Sierra Vista is a forty-five year old man, a man who fought and won the custody of his young son, a son he wanted to have a better life, even better opportunities that he himself could not have. This man's own family had abandoned him while still in high school, handing him no opportunity for college himself, or gave him the guidance that he now wants for his own son. He took on this role knowing only that he would do the best he could, and offer what opportunities that he himself could find.
His job ended up being the manager in a carwash, slowly working his way up the ladder over five years until he finally was making eleven dollars an hour. He was on call 24 hours a day, and worked 50 hour weeks, but still he found a way to buy a two-bedroom trailer, a reliable car and offer internet and oversee schooling for his son. It was tough, the pay hardly enough and he was living paycheck to paycheck, but he never lost his priority, and never forgot the commitment he made to his son.to give him, somehow, more than he himself had been given. He was living the American dream in the best way he knew how.
But one day he looked at his son and realized that he wanted to give him more. What kind of example was he really giving him? Was he really showing his son that a person really could have a better way of life, to pursue dreams and aspirations and actually accomplish them? He knew he had already given his son more than his own parents had given him, much more, but was it enough? He began to think it wasn't.
He began immediately to pursue and research how he might start his own business. He had no money, no training, no equipment.in truth, he didn't really have any knowledge in any specific field that even allowed him to pursue a business.with one exception: he had at times in his life been in sales.
That's when he realized what he might do, and stumbled upon a company that would not only help him get going with no cost, but help him in every way from paperwork to graphic design.and on December 1st, 2011, he published his first newspaper from MakeMyNewspaper. At the end of that same month, he gave notice and quit his job.
He was now a business owner, a newspaper publisher and suddenly an integral part of the community.
So, what did it take for him? Several things:
1. Desire - without a desire to start your own business, you might as well work for someone who does.
2. Work - Don't let anyone fool you. It takes work, a lot of work, to build a business.
3. Opportunity - Utilizing the right services and leveraging the right products creates opportunity. The newspaper company cited above was leveraged by this single father to create opportunity. Look for similar services that you can leverage. Create your own opportunity.
