The Lords Prayer. All of us can recite it from memory. We learned it in Sunday school or in Catechism class. It is a stalwart of the Christian faith. But did you know that it was never meant to be something that is used for a religious ritual? It was never meant to be just recited or sung and that was it.
The Lord's prayer, also commonly called the Our Father Prayer, was a teaching, an outline on how to pray. It has 6 main parts to it. Everything you need to know about praying effective prayers.
When I learned what it meant to pray the way Jesus prayed and that the Lord's Prayer was not just how we were to pray but how Jesus prayed, that changed the way I prayed! Jesus is our model for Christian living and no one can say that the prayers of Jesus were not answered. So if He prayed this way, and taught His disciples to pray this way, then don't you think it might be a good idea to have a second look at the Lord's Prayer?
I found 6 keys in this prayer that changed my life.
Hallowing the name of God. That means to honor and revere His name
Praying for the Kingdom of God to come on Earth the same way it is in Heaven.
Receiving and giving forgiveness. Not only receiving it for yourself but learning how to forgive others
Receiving guidance from God in our daily life so we do not make dumb mistakes.
How to have divine protection over our lives!
How to place your life under the control of one who knows all, sees all, and is able to do more than we can do!
Now I don't know about you, but for me, this was an epiphany! I need to have these things in my life. I need to see healing happen, I need to see goodness happen, I need to see His kingdom manifested in my life. I need to be provided for. I spent 2 years once looking for work. Now He takes care of my needs, whether or not the economy is good or bad. I am not a perfect person, I need forgiveness and I need to forgive others. Many times in life I have been hurt. I need to know how not to get bitter but get better. And I definately need divine protection! With the crime rate and the incidents of natural disasters on the rise, only God is truly able to protect me.
