All my adult life I have had one dream. To be able to help people spiritually as a full time occupation. When I was a teenager. I wanted to play Christian Rock and Roll full time. When I went to Bible College I thought that I would be a missionary. It ended up that I started 2 churches in the U.S. Always as my core vision, I just wanted to help people in their spiritual walk.
Then disaster struck! I like many people, ended up going through the pain and tragedy of divorce. All my hopes and dreams seemed shattered. Who would want a divorced pastor? My finances were in a shamble, my kids were angry with me. Everything seemed to be going to hell in a handbasket literally!
However just as Robert Schuller used to say all the time. "Tough times never last, but tough people do." I found the some keys to overcoming those changes in life that you do not nor would you want to expect. I am not sure why it is, but it seems like the most valuable lessons I learn in life, I learn through the school of hard knocks. Sometimes I really think I am a big donkey, however if I can pass these lessons on to you, then I will at least been a helpful donkey!
Quickly, here are a few things I have learned that have gotten me to the point that I am truly living my dream.
Know that you know that what you want to do is your destiny!
Believe that with God all things are possible! Know that He is able to do exceedinly abundantly above all that you ask or think!
Put your eyes on the one who has the miracle working power!
Change your lifestyle and priorites so that you you are not a slave to the bank, or anyone else financially.
Step out of the boat and believe you can walk on water. Faith is spelled R_I_S_K
Don't Give Up! Be Positively Stubborn!
If I, a middle aged balding man with no wife can come to the point that I am living my dream and doing so full time, so can you! Yes it might take time, in fact it probably will take time, nothing worth doing happens overnight. However isn't it worth it? Isn't it worth being happy and content in what you are doing? We only have one life, doesn't it make sense to make the most of it rather than throwing it away doing something you really don't like and are not passionate about?
Now that is something to think about!
