Steaming is a process of cooking which are mostly preferred by health conscious individuals. In steaming foods such as shrimps, adding cooking oil is not necessary thus the fat content of the food will be less. Steaming also results into a more nutritious food compared to boiling since boiling has the tendency to destroy or leach away the nutrients into the water.

Seafood such as shrimp is usually cooks under this kind of cooking method. In fact, steamed shrimps are also popular during classic cocktail party. Steaming shrimp is simple. There are some tips given on how to steam shrimps.

Here's how to make a delicious steamed shrimps:

1. The most important thing is the shrimp since this is the main ingredient. Purchase two pounds of medium sized fresh shrimp. Use the fish monger peel to clean the fish but do not take away the tail since it makes them easier to dip. If you can't, dig the shell using your thumb then find where the legs are. After finding the legs, pull them across to remove it. Take a pairing knife and slice down the inside of the shrimp to remove its digestive track. Otherwise, you can ask someone to clean them for you if you don't want to do the cleaning process.

2. Keep the shrimp on ice until just before you cook them since they spoil easily. Add 6 cups of water, 2 bay leaves, 2 tablespoons of coriander, 2 tablespoons of dill and 2 tablespoons of kosher salt into a boil in a stock pot then place the fitted steamer insert. If you don't have fitted steamer insert, you can use a strainer or colander as long as the bottom does not touch the water. Moreover, you can put the lid on top of the stock pot.

3. Add the shrimp. Lower the heat into low then put back the lid on the stock pot. Shrimps cook easily so don't leave them in for more than 3 minutes. If the shrimp turns to pink, it means that they are already cooked.

4. Remove the shrimp from the stock pot then place it on a bed of ice until they are ready to serve. Serve it with a cocktail sauce or garlic aoli for a more unconventional dipping option.

As you can see, steaming shrimp is easy. You don't need to be a professional chef just to cook this dish. You will not only enjoy eating this food but you will also be hale and hearty.
