One of the primary concerns for the students to study in international universities is the financial aspects of the study. To study in foreign countries, there is requirement of a lot of expenditures. The first matter where money takes up a major chunk is the tuition fees and the admission charges. In China and Japan, the tuition fees vary according to the universities and the regions of their location.
But still, there is a need of a good amount of money in deposits as many visa consulates want the students to show these deposits to the range of the students leading a life without any financial burden on the government. To study in China, the students have to prove this. But for those who are not able to fund themselves completely for the study and stay in the country, a number of scholarships are available that provides a part or the full tuition fee and that is decided by the authorities dispensing the scholarship amount.
To study in China and get scholarships, the students are required to submit their applications to the Ministry of Education (MOE) which then decides the amount of scholarships that could be extended to the students. The decision is mostly made on the basis of merit and the financial background of the students. The applicant has to be a non-China student in good health.
For undergraduate programs, senior high school diploma with age not more than 25, for masters program, a bachelor's degree with age less than 35 and for doctoral programs, the masters degree with age not above 40, etc are some of the criteria laid down for scholarship eligibility. If the students satisfy these criteria, the rest of the processing is left on the MOE and the students can hope for the best.
Similarly, study in Japan is also aided by a number of scholarships which are sponsored by various organizations such as US-Japan Bridging Foundation providing the Bridging Scholarships for studying in Japan, Blakemore foundation providing the Blakemore Freeman Fellowships for Advanced Asian Language Study, College Women's Association of Japan giving the Graduate Scholarship for Non-Japanese Women to study in Japan, Consulate General of Japan giving the Monbusho Fellowship, The Crane-Rogers Foundation providing the Institute of Current World Affairs Target of Opportunity Fellowships, and many such scholarships.
These scholarships help the financially less privileged people to help fund their stay and study in Japan. There are also a number of such scholarship programs in Hongkong which has allowed many students to pursue their study in Hongkong in the top universities. A few of the noteworthy scholarships are forwarded by the City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, etc.
The awarding of such scholarships has especially helped the students with merit from the poorer countries, so that they can pursue courses of their liking from the top universities in Hong Kong. The trend to provide scholarships has gradually percolated, to many universities around the world. And they have been designed for these kinds of students to make their stay and study in the foreign countries easy and hassle free.
