It was only in the later part of 1960s that the influence of the right and the left hemispheres of the brain came into limelight. Studies have revealed that the right side of the body is controlled by the left hemisphere while the right hemisphere controls the left side of the body. The dominance of the hemispheres plays a crucial role not only in the personality of the designer but also his/her output.

If one knows the working of the two hemispheres it could be helpful at enhancing the creativity, efficiency, productivity and effectiveness of the designer. Usually web designing is a team work and this is also affected by the brain of the designers.

The biggest difference between the two hemispheres is about how the information is processed. The right hemisphere takes into consideration first the looks or the visual aspect and then into the details. On the other hand the left hemisphere has a bit of reverse approach because it first considers the details and on the basis of logic works towards the looks or visual aspect.

Now both the hemispheres of the cerebral cortex can have equal efficiency and effectiveness but this is very rare. Usually only either of the hemispheres is dominant. This dominance of any one of the hemispheres is usually responsible for the type of web design prepared by that designer.

It is not necessary that the people with right hemisphere dominant are more successful than those with the left hemisphere dominant. There are pros and cons of dominance of each hemisphere.

Let us first look into the pros and cons of the left hemisphere dominance. People with dominance of left hemisphere seem to handle matters on the basis of logic and in an organized way. These people strictly adhere to the rules, regulations, deadlines, and schedules. Since these people approach the task in a logical and structured way the chances of error are usually less.

Now is the turn of right hemisphere dominance. Those with right hemisphere dominance count on the visual aspect to understand any matter. These people usually get carried away by sentiments and emotions. They are good at understanding others and at responding to the feelings of others. The negative part of these people features mismanagement of time, bit of disorganization and lacking the skills of prioritizing the tasks at hand.

It can be concluded that people with right hemisphere dominance are usually more creative than those with left hemisphere dominance. If organized and legal approach is to be expected then the person needs to be with left hemisphere dominance.

There are tests that can reveal whether the person is with right hemisphere dominance or with left hemisphere dominance. Based on the results of these tests the personnel's skills can be used for optimum results.

Based on these tests one can come to know what he/she is good at and use his/her skills accordingly.
