Over the years many SEO web masters have been trying to find the exact science behind the perfect density of their web page, but time has proven that there is no exact formula to this SEO element.
Hi my name is Mark Felix and as always I never proclaim to be an expert at SEO, however I do practice SEO and have been over the past six years and that would suggest I know a thing or two about the subject.
Now before I give the impression that you should load your web-page with keywords, let me stress the point that spam does affect your website's ranking, so if the thought has ever crossed your mind, don't do it.
My claim is the fact that having a specific density percentage is not necessary, but having your keywords in specific places on your page is what really matters and here I am going to discuss some of my top places.
Here are seven places that I recommend.
URL: It's been proven time and time again that having a URL that matches your keyword phrase is one the most important elements to have.
Title: this like your URL is another very important area to add your keyword phrase in, just look at the sites that rank for the key phrase you're after.
Description: having your key phrase at the start of your description is also very important because it's used in many instances in the search results.
Alt Tag: while some web-masters might disagree with my method, I have notice that applying a sentence in your alt tag with the key phrase sometime shows up as your description in the search results.
H1 Tag: It's good practice to have your key phrase in an H1, H2, H3 tag, it helps to give the page the emphasis on what its all about.
Bold - Strong: this is another area that is believed to help, but I do have my reservations, if you're going to use it, then use the strong tag.
Italic - Emphases: one more area that many people use and again I do have my reservations, but if you're going to use it, use the emphases tag.
So there you have it my top seven.
Did you know that you can have your site rank in the top ten of your niche without having your keyword in any of these places? and to even stress the point a bit further, how about no keyword on your page.
Well, it's been proven that with enough back-links you can get any page to rank in the top ten which is why I have said that keyword density is nothing to stress over. But having your keywords in these specific places does create stability and will help the page maintain its ranking.
