If the apartment manager or leasing agent live in the community, they should give you an honest assessment of the noise levels that you can expect. Usually if there are any complaints, they are the first ones to know about it. If you need piece and quest, try and secure a unit that is located away from most of the traffic in the community. The leasing agents should be able to assist you with that.
What Does The Unit Look Like Inside
You will want to view the interior of the unit before you sign the lease agreement. Have the manager show you the unit you will be living in. You will want to take your time and do a thorough inspection to. Be sure and check that the appliances are in perfectly working order and that the carpet is clean. If there are any issues you should notify the manager and maintenance crew. You don't want to have to wait for something to repaired on the day of your move in.
Do I Get My Own Parking Space
Do you get to have your own assigned parking space, or is if first come first served. Many communities have plenty of parking; however; if you live in a urbanized area, you may only receive one spot. Also ask about the guest situation. If you plan on having someone over a regular basis, you will want to know where they can park too.
What About Pets
Almost all communities will have certain rules regarding pets. If you have a pet or you plan on getting one, you will need to know the breed types and weight limits they accept. There will also be a pet deposit that is involved. Don't be shocked if its several hundred dollars. Also ask what portion is refundable.
Can I Paint
Some communities will allow you to paint a wall. As long as you change it back you won't be penalized.
