While a lot of articles and professionals will tell you that aluminum windows do not require much or any maintenance once installed, this isnt really true and they do still need cleaning. The more often you clean the windows the longer they will stay looking like new for, monthly or even weekly cleaning is recommended. Sometimes it seems quite a challenging task to clean your aluminum windows properly. Cleaning these windows does not have to use any complex chemicals or cleaning routines, we have put together a routine which does not take much effort or time.
Try some of these little tips using things from around the house before you try using any expensive branded cleaning products from the supermarket. You may have heard lots of people suggest cleaning products using baking soda, vinegar and lemon juice, however many people assume these do not work or that they are old wives talkes but the truth is that they do work! Remember these tips when it comes to cleaning the windows at home as you can use these for this purpose. Just give the windows a light wash with warm water and mix in a little bit of lemon juice and baking soda. When you mix the lemon and baking soda in the water it will bubble up, just the same as if you had put washing up liquid or another cleaning fluid in the water. Baking soda is very effective for removing any stubborn sticky stains from these windows. If you add a drop of vinegar into the warm water with baking soda it will keep your windows looking bright and shiny for longer! Wipe the windows with the mixture and leave it on the windows for a few minutes before just wiping it off with a clean cloth and warm water.
Make sure that any cloths and sponges that you are using are totally clean and that you are not using any abbrasive chemicals when you clean the windows. If you like to use detergents for washing the windows, I will recommend that you always select some mild detergents for this purpose, like our dishwashing liquids. This should not cause any stains or issues with the metal frames. If the windows have not be cleaned in a long time of there are any marks which are not coming off witjh the mild cleaning agent then you may have to move onto something a little stronger.
Paint stripper is a final option that should only be used if nothing else will remove the stains first. This is the last option to try on the stains and it is not recommended for regular use or washing complete windows. Once you have cleaned the frames, do not forget that you will need to clean the glass as well. A good glass polish will keep the glass shiny for a long time.
