There are critical mistakes that a network marketer can make which inhibits your success. Network marketing is not a get rich quick scheme but a legitimate business opportunity. Learn to treat your business like any other real business and you will be able to achieve more than you thought. Don't make the same mistakes that many network marketers make. Learn from the fatal mistakes now:
Not Thinking the Way Entrepreneurs Think - So you've been an employee all of your life, eh? We all have had jobs, but being a network marketing is being your own boss and you need to develop the mindset of an entrepreneur. The way entrepreneurs think is totally different than employees. If you still have a regular job, learn to put on your entrepreneur cap after you've left work. To help you change your mindset, invest in books like, "Think and Grow Rich" and "Rich Dad Poor Dad".
Having No Marketing Skills - If you've never been in a business for yourself, chances are you don't have any marketing skills, and chasing family and friends doesn't qualify for successful marketing skills here. If you are to be a successful network marketer, you'll need to treat your business professionally just like you would any other business. If you owned a sub shop, you'd want to market to people who eat subs, right? No point in marketing to someone who doesn't shop or buy your product. It is the same with your network marketing home based business.
Quitting Too Soon - Unfortunately this happens too much. When you begin in network marketing, you want results right away. And depending on your business plan this may be possible. In our model, our goal is to make our new people money within the first 10 days of business. And this is quite attainable, many are meeting this goal. But if you don't see instant money, that doesn't mean that the business model doesn't work. Sometimes, you plant many seeds before you can reap from the harvest.
Not Posturing Yourself Properly - Many network marketers start out from a place of lack when talking with prospects. Save yourself a bunch of headaches. Don't come from lack mentality so that your prospects will be attracted to your offer instead of feeling like you need them to succeed. That's not how you succeed. You need to develop the right mindset for success and part of that means you don't come from neediness.
Complaining that Your Upline Sucks and Blaming Your Upline or MLM Company - okay so there are poor uplines and it is true that some can suck. But ultimately, you got to find someone that can mentor you in your business. Don't just wait for someone to step up, you got to go outside your comfort zone and ask for help. Look for someone that can mentor you who has a success mindset, who uses effective marketing skills and doesn't think like an employee. If your sponsor hasn't done this work himself, he can't share any knowledge with you.
Not Utilizing Training Sessions and Webinars - If your primary MLM or upline offers training, it is wise to tap into that. One thing you want to ask is how effective are your upline's methods and how can you use them in your own business. But having support is essential while you are learning to transform your employee thinking to entrepreneurial thinking.
Chasing Family and Friends - It is a fatal mistake to chase anyone. It is because it puts you in a place of lack mentality and neediness. If you are chasing, you are not effectively marketing. This is a critical mistake. Learn to develop leads that are targeted. Your target market will bring better results and you'll feel less frustrated in the meantime.
