Double vision or diplopia is something we don't want to experience. It is the simultaneous perception of a single object into two images which maybe displaced vertically, horizontally or diagonally in relation to one another. Diplopia is generally a result of impaired functionalities of the extraocular muscles wherein even if both eyes are used, they are not in focus.

Proper Eye Care
To ensure excellent eyesight for years, we should all take good care of our eyes. It is easy to take care of our eyes as it only requires very little or no effort. You should consider regular eye exercises, a balanced diet and precautionary measures. Through these, you can improve the vitality and life of your eyes.
. Include lots of fruits and green vegetables in your diet.
By including these in your diet, you'll be able to improve your vision and to keep your eyes healthy. A person lacking in Vit. A can succumb to severe eye damage.
. Add carrots to your regular diet.
Carrots have beta carotene which is very helpful in maintaining healthy eyes.
. Put freshly cut cucumbers over your eyes for 10 mins. everyday (before going to sleep).
Doing so helps prevent inflammation and puffiness.
. Wear goggles or protective eyeware.
This is very important if you work with harmful airborne particulates or chemicals.
. Never wear contact lenses for more than 12 hours.
When contact lenses are worn for a long time, they may cause discomfort or permanent damage.
. Use eye drops sparingly.
They are good if you will use them once in a while like during the allergy season for reducing redness and itchiness. However, with chronic use, it may worsen the problem. Also, you should not use eye drops if you wear contact lenses.
. Wear UV protective sunglasses.
Specifically get polarized lenses because they can protect your eyes. If you will just use dark glasses, they can make your pupils dilate.
. Refrain from smoking.
Smoking can cause macular degeneration and cataract. This is a condition where cells in the retina can die.
