Mesa Airlines' history is dotted with lots of struggles but that isn't too unfamiliar to airlines. There are a number of airlines that have faced problems that are similar. Larry and Jane Risley started Mesa Airlines in 1980 when it was a division of a company called, JB Aviation. For the next 5 years Mesa Airlines (or Mesa Air Shuttle, as it was renamed in 1982) had flights from both New Mexico and Albuquerque. They then eventually moved to their main HQ in Phoenix, Arizona and looked for code sharing partners. All major airlines were involved with sharing codes as it is common between all major and minor airlines in the industry. A code share agreement was reached between America West Airlines and Mesa in 1992, allowing them to move forward.
Mesa is just one of a few airlines that are interrelated due to the interest in the Mesa Air Group.
An example of an airline as such would be Go! Mokulele, this airline offers air service to the Hawaiian Islands. This partner airline operates a separate fleet of Bombardier CRJ 200 aircraft, and they fly out of their hub in Honolulu, Hawaii. Mesa originally developed "go" in 2006, where upon a code share alliance took shape with Mokulele Airlines. This enables optimistic results for flights into Hawaii, into places that are unable to accommodate jet planes.
The minor transport services are even more challenging, when you try to understand the code shares and unions. Just an example of how the aviation industry handles such matters.
In 2005, an airline connected to Mesa, America West Airlines, joined with US Airways. Mesa is yet greatly tied in, due the code share deal with the US Airways Group. Mesa is still associated as US Airways Express as a result of the other code share arrangement. At long last, Mesa is allowed to maintain its lucrative commercial delivery service.
Since the Mesa Air Group has been structured, Mesa Airlines have gained greatly. Mesa and three accompanying transport services are all associated with the Air Group.
