Laptops and netbooks are too small for second internal hard drives, if you need more space on one of these try adding an external or portable hard drive. Second internal hard drives are meant only for desktop computers, some desktop computers can even hold three or four extra drives, depending on your computer you may need a special adapter or special rails to mount hard drive inside your computer. In some cases new internal drives come with matching rails and or adapters, rails and adapters are really pretty inexpensive, and they can be picked up at the computer store, you can also buy them online.
To begin installation, unplug your computer and remove its case, make sure you ground yourself before beginning any form of surgery on the inside of your computer, and if you lived in the static prone environment make sure you buy yourself a grounding strap that wraps around your wrist and attaches to the computer.
First you're going to buy yourself a compatible hard drive for your computer, then you're going to find yourself the mounting Bay, which is a bunch of sliding compartments on the inside of your computer, then you're going to look at how your existing hard drive is attached to your second internal hard drive, you're going to copy this except in an empty compartment. Then you're going to attach the cable between your new hard drive and your motherboard, and then you're going to plug in the power cables. Finally you're going to screw the drive into place and make sure that all your cables are attached and that all the screws are tightened, then you're going to replace your computer's cover and then you should then be good to go.
