Those people who are responsible for organizing a project, could find the most successful design method is to analyse the topic reduced to its simplest fragments. What usually becomes clear is that when viewed in simple terms, a considerable common factor in planning is the concept of balance. Naturally, balance is expressed in the form of symmetry. Typically where planning is a concern, one will see that balance may be a crucial element.

The mark of a well developed product is how effectively it achieves the function for which it's planned. Probably the simplest way to ensure that it operates well is to stick to the basics and what one could consider as the simplicity concept. Although the pleasing outward look of a product is important to individuals who make them, its also crucial to consider that the simpler the better usually applies.

The crucial element in decisions made as to the best way to create any object, no matter if its nature is artistic, as in a work of art, or practical, for example a chair, is to consider it in terms of form and function. The fact is that no matter how attractive to the eye an object may be, if it's not useful, the utility of the object will be affected.

When form and function have a harmony, an object comes closest to that state to become an ideal, or nearing perfection. In psychology, this concept is stated as gestalt, which refers to a closed system where all the elements work in an optimum manner, in short when all things are in balance.

The concept of balance is also related to that of harmony. When we imagine something being in harmony, that's actually a different way of saying that its in a state of equilibrium, or balance. You are usually reminded of music upon listening the term harmony, so the fact that the wave lengths of harmonious sounds are mathematically proportional sustains the statement that form and function in balance make a thing of beauty.

Good examples provided by nature are normally the best way to judge the substance of things or the determining factor of their structure. Researching the shape of living things or the composition of molecules could reveal that stable natural objects contain the characteristic of symmetry, or balance, in common. Animals or objects with a symmetrical structure aren't only stable, but usually considered attractive to the eye.

The more a person studies their environment, they will find a lot of cases to assist the claim that balance is the substance of good design. Not surprisingly, experts in aesthetics contend that what is viewed as beauty is, in reality, symmetry, or, in a word, balance.
