Getting to know the Chinese language can be tricky, so it is essential that you make a suitable learning method prior to diving into your studies. Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences is a great theory to reference when developing your learning approach. The theory says there are seven individual types of learners, visual-spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, linguistic, and logical-mathematical. This content is going to look into learning methods for bodily-kinesthetic learners.

What Are Bodily-Kinesthetic Learners

Bodily-kinesthetic learners are those who are incredibly in touch with their physical selves. They are very good with their hands, and they like using motion, creating things, and touching objects. They can be found in various occupations, from dancers to surgeons. These are the type of people who usually communicate just as much with their body language as they do through spoken words and phrases. If you happen to be one of these learners you'll learn well through physical activity, role-playing, acting, and many other forms of hands-on learning. You'll want to integrate physical items and tools into your learning plan.

Learning Strategy 1

If you are a bodily-kinesthetic learner, you should get your hands on actual objects, so, when mastering important vocabulary words, do just that. For instance, if you want to learn the names of basic kitchen items, gather those items and use them as study instruments. Instead of utilizing flash cards to memorize, for example, the names of eating utensils, get actual knives, forks and chopsticks and put them into a box. Memorize each of their names by reaching into the box, pulling out an item and reciting its name in Chinese.

Learning Strategy 2

Role playing can be a highly effective tool for anyone figuring out a foreign language. It's particularly powerful, though, for bodily-kinesthetic learners. If you are one of these learners, you must locate a partner ASAP. There exists an unending supply of role-playing activities when studying the Chinese language. For instance, you can act like you're in a restaurant, a travel agency, or maybe a hotel. You can ask one another for directions or even have mock business conferences. You can even spend a whole day with each other acting like tour guides, or any other thing you enjoy. The biggest thing is to speak regularly using the Chinese language.

Learning Strategy 3

If you're a bodily-kinesthetic learner, you're great at acting out, which means you more than likely deliver passionate speeches and toasts. You may or may not be a terrific speech writer, but that's not significant in this case. What's significant is the delivery. So, what you need to do is use the internet and find famous speeches and toasts that have been translated into Chinese (there are many them). Memorize these speeches and then deliver them to your friends and family members, or anybody else who will listen.

Learning Strategy 4

Building stuff is a powerful method for bodily-kinesthetic learners to remember things. Just how can this make it easier to learn a second language? Well, say you would like to learn how to discuss family in Chinese. You can actually make a family tree. It does not have to be too complicated or time intensive. You can simply use paper and other items, or just draw a picture. It is the act of producing something using your hands that will help you understand.

Conclusion

If you're a bodily-kinesthetic learner, you have to be active. You should not simply sit down at a desk and memorize vocabulary terms. If you do, you may become bored and lose interest in your language learning goals. Instead, gather physical objects and use them as study tools. Make sure to stay active, constructing, creating and performing as you learn.
