Mystery is among the most difficult genres when it comes to writing. However, things may not be as difficult if you find help of the given tips.

Pay attention to your protagonist. It's your protagonist who will carry the tale thoughout. So, if he / she's not appealing enough, your plot whatever howsoever engaging will fail to con the readers. The jerk might be appealing for a little while but if he does not have shades of grey, then the readers will soon lose interest.

Another necessary tip that might work for an engaging poser story is to make a character of a best friend of the lead figure. This might boost up the interest levels of your audience. However keep under consideration to form a different character of the best friend. For instance, if your protagonist is a practical personal then his / her best friend should have an emotional side. If both of them are of the same nature, it might not interest the readers. The best friend of your protagonist might be his / her partner, better half, or child. You might even would like to develop the character and bring him to the front later in the story.

Bring alive the location. When you are watching a movie, it is so easy to explain the location in just a few shots. But in a book, you want to bring alive the location BTW of clear descriptions. If you happen to be using a genuine city as the location, then play up the special personality of the city. Talk about its food, architecture, climate and the like to make the readers feel that they are actually in the same town. However, if your city is fictional, then you're free to explain any characteristics of the city that you're feeling will help add sparkle to the story.

Keep a track of your characters. This is extremely major if you are writing a series. Keep an account of the diverse traits of all the characters. You could maintain a chart for this reason as recollecting the details of all of the characters might be a headache otherwise. In the chart, you could mention the qualities, fashion sense, pastimes, and behavior attributes of the personality. Therefore when you begin a new book in the series, you'll have a backgrounder to fall back on.

You must let your audience know that regardless of whether they start in the middle of your series somewhere, there is no problem. Each book in your series must be a piece on its own. So that even if somebody has not read the part 2, he may still be in a position to understand the part 3. To make sure that this occurs, you need to give each book a background that might be read and understood by all.

Utilize these suggestions and you are going to have the readers glued.
