Children can be very cruel to one another, and the effects of this can last for many years. From the beginning you should try to stop your child from getting obese, as this is the ideal situation. This means that you need to ensure your child appreciates the situation and understands why it isn't healthy at all. But of course, as a parent you must be a role model and set a positive example for your children. Clearly you're going to have problems doing this if you are actually overweight as well.
If you want your kids to be strong and healthy adults, raise them in a kind and accepting home that allows for mistakes. Make sure that you are accepting of any mistakes that they make, and help them get back on track in the nicest way possible.
