Telepathy can have many meanings to many people, the simply put definition is that it is being able to feel what another feels without being around them. This must be done without being able to see them, hear them, or touch them physically.

When we use our minds to convey what we are thinking without speaking is like having another step on a ladder only you can use.

It is highly known amongst those involved in animal husbandry, that many species have some form of telepathic behavior. Whether it be insects that are communal to the dolphins who use a more obvious form of telepathy called sonar, the fact is that telepathy is real for many critters.

While humans in the West consider this to be a phenomenon, there are still primitive tribes around today who naturally use the power of telepathy. This way they can communicate with one another silently and secretly.

Telepathy does not need to be feared nor it is very well understood, but it is apart of every humans make up. Many have had telepathic experiences without even knowing it. Maybe it was taught to young children of primitive civilizations they way we teach our children today to speak and read. If one had difficulty, there were probably shown ways to over come the difficulty in learning to use telepathy.

It is felt that there is the possibility that telepathy has evolved out of mankind through natural selection. Perhaps with all the modern advances we no longer need to be telepathic.

As mentioned before, telepathy has some times gone by the sixth sense. Another common analogy for telepathy is the third eye. This is the eye that sees beyond our normal vision.

You have probably already utilized your telepathic power and haven't even realized it. This is mostly because we consider these to be gut feelings or instincts. Maybe you just felt as though someone was looking over your shoulder, or you're worried about a family member all of the sudden. These things happen all the time and the end result is that you're usually right. It's amazing how we accept this in our world, but the mention of it being connected to telepathy and most people turn their head.

It is difficult to pinpoint why most of humanity would have lost touch with their telepathic powers and stopped believing in them.

The answer is not an easy one but belief and practice are the most likely culprits. As society progressed, our beliefs changed and a big part of that was religion. The faith's that people practice today all but discount telepathy and actually make this ability out to be a type of demonic possession.

These religions among us have come to have such power over society that a great many people have been taught to put no faith in telepathy, but only in 'the Messiah' or 'the Savior' or 'the Prophet' rather than in their own natural abilities.

So why do the major religions refuse to accept that telepathy even exists?

After all, isn't denial usually a sure sign of guilt or the truth. The person who is most adamant about their innocence tends to be guilty more often than not. More than likely, they are trying to suppress a power or belief that would weaken their stance with the current members of their religion. Showing a weakness can be that first sign of doubt that could lead to the end of an individuals participation of their faith.

Scientists have a basic need to be able to explain any event. Because of the elusive nature of telepathy, they do not believe it exists even though many people have had these experiences in their lives.

Even though we do have open-minded scientists who believe in telepathy, there are some out there who think it's virtually impossible. The thought behind it is that you cannot taste or touch it, nor numerically measured. Believing this only keeps the positive thoughts at bay.

Scientists do however agree that we do have a certain instinctual nature as do all creatures in nature. There is a bias when it comes to telepathy however. Since most scientists do not nor will they allow themselves to try and learn to tap into their base telepathic nature, there is no reason for them to change their stance on the subject.

There may be envy involved as well. Even those with high IQ's and degrees can feel envious of something they do not have themselves, or choose not to acknowledge. By calling it instinct, they leave themselves room to have a certain belief that undermines the envy.

Maybe we can date back this loss as far as the Tower of Babylon story and the confusion that surrounded languages. Maybe it wasn't just language that was a setback; maybe people who used telepathy had this problem as well.
