Car donation is the practice which is used to sell the car for aiming the funds in organizations to claim a tax benefit. When you are donating a car you are providing a way to child to learn, eat and have shelter. There are lots of tips while donating a car to charitable organization

1. It must be make sure that it is eligible to give you tax charitable deductions. You can ask for a copy for your record which verifies its tax exempt status.
2. You must take the receipt from the charitable fund after donating the car.
3. If the car price is more than $500 then the donator have to fill the section A of the IRS form 8283 and attach to tax return. They are requested to file with his/her tax return and a written acknowledgement should be taken from charity. If the alms fundable organization sells the specified car then organization must provide a certificate that car has been sold at arms length price between unrelated parties and the sale price of the car within 30 days. If the organization does not sell the car in a month then it must provide a receipt to the donor within 30 days of the sale. The charity fund also have to provide the certificate if they want to improve the car.
4. If the car is worth $5000or more than that, in that independent appraisal is necessary. The donor has to fill the section B of the form 8283.
5. Check the math's: If the organization simply gives charities flat fees - say, $100 for a used vehicle regardless of its value, or $2,000 a month - your donation may not be eligible for a tax deduction.

1. Determine what type of vehicle to donate
2. Determine the value of the car you are donating
3. Fill the donation fund form
4. Acquire for pickup
5. Get your tax benefit


Determine what type of vehicle to donate: you can contribute car, truck, boat, motorbike to the alms fund. You will have the title for your title to get the gift.

Determine the value of the car you are donating: in this step you have to calculate the car value. If the organization simply gives charities flat fees - say, $100 for a used vehicle regardless of its value, or $2,000 a month - your donation may not be eligible for a tax deduction.

Fill the donation fund(s) form: in these step you have to fill the donation fund form. If the car price is more than $500 then the donator have to fill the section A of the IRS form 8283 and attach to tax return. If the car is worth $5000 then donor has to fill section B of form 8283.


Acquire for pickup: we will accept car pickup of your donated vehicle. Make sure you have the title in hand, or we cannot accept the donation

Get your tax benefit: last step is to get a receipt from the charitable organization to obtain a tax benefit.
