South Pacific Vacation Packages - Tips for First Time Travelers
When looking at all of the different things you can do and places you can go, the sites and events available to explore and enjoy, putting a South Pacific Vacation package together can seem like a major task. When you decide to take that trip to Australia there's just no way to pack everything all in one go.
If you are taking your first trip to Australia you might not want to immediately go straight for the outback and the safari tours. Many people will visit the more famous and commonly photographed sights like the Sydney Opera House, the Great Barrier Reef or Ayers Rock
Australia is a majestic place and while its size is a magnificent thing, it can also be the downside for a lot of tourists. There's a lot to see and a lot of it is far from anywhere else. The majority of the population of Australia lives in the outer quadrants near the shore line, so that leaves more than 80% of the continent under-developed (and undeveloped). With all that open land, there's just no way anyone could managed to see everything this fascinating continent has to offer.
You just can't do a road trip the same in Australia the way you can in the US. In the States you can tool around in an RV or even a car and at least pass through a dozen cities in a matter of hours. In Australia one of the shorter drives you can take is from Sydney to Perth and that is around a 50 hour trip by road. If you want to travel fast in Australia you are pretty much stuck with booking local flights.
Additional Tips for First Time Travelers to Australia
1) Intentionally Book a Stopover - If you want to reduce long flight related problems like jet lag you can deliberately book your flights with longer stop over to give you the chance to explore your stops and adjust your sleep. You could potentially visit Bangkok or Tokyo and throw some extra splash into your Australian vacation.
2) Use Travel Apps - There are a good many applications available for cell phones that can be downloaded and carried with you you that can act as your own personal tour guide on your trip even if you are in an area without any signal. These apps can help you find hotels and restaurants to make your stopovers as painless as possible and maybe help you find a few points of interest while you're there.
3) Study the Customs - "When in Rome do as the Romans do" is one of those iconic sayings. What it means is, obey local customs and manners so you don't stand out and get yourself in trouble. It is more than just a matter of etiquette it can also keep you from getting into a world of hurt either legally or with the locals. In Australia many of the locals are accustomed to tourists but that doesn't mean they all are going to be going out of their way to be tolerant. Show respect for the local culture and it could save you a hassle.
