Those classic arcade games that we used to play on "Family Computers" are one of the coolest things at that time. It was a time before Xbox decided to put multiple buttons for you to use. With just An and B, up, down, forward and backward, we can already play a multitude of classic arcade games.
These classic arcade games usually just have one life, or maybe three. If you jump and fall too high, you're dead. Video characters easily get killed in these games so you have to be careful. It's interesting how these games are all about timing.
One of the features found in these classic arcade games is that you can purchase the games in cartridges and you can play them in 2 players. With so many limitations, you cannot save your progress as these games do not have the capability to save a game compared to console games today. Once you are killed or you lose a life, some games require you to start from scratch, leaving many players frustrated. These players are now more challenged to finish the game in a short time span.
Gameboy was actually made by Nintendo way before they thought of having Wii. This is the first console that was a huge hit also because it incorporates the games with great screen resolution in a mobile device. This was made way before mobile phones became a hit. People got so hooked into their own little world in green and black color schemes in a mini TV and console that can be easily stashed in the pocket.
As they say, those were the toys for the boys at that time. Not everyone can afford them. Unlike people of today that spend hundreds on Xbox, Playstation 3 and PSPs. Gaming back then was a luxury. All these video gadgets and games were priced so high.
A person can easily get tired of one game. They want to buy more cartridges to their liking. Though at least now, with the advent of technology and internet, you can now enjoy these classic video games. They still have appeal for true blue gamers of that season. It's like every geek back then got them glued about comics and the 2D one liner platform.
Classic arcade games are a novelty in themselves. The encouraging music and voice over is what makes it all the more enjoyable. Fighting with the computer face off with your character is truly exciting. You get to do fancy moves with just a combination of up down left right and an and b.
