Back when I created my blog I was not aware of how important the domain name was, but now that I do know I want you guys to benefit and reap the rewards. The first thing you should be aware of when it comes to picking the name of your site is keywords. Having the right keywords in your website domain can make a big difference in the search engine rankings. When you are choosing domain names you should aim to use relevant keywords that get a decent to good amount of traffic as this will make it easier for you to get ranked.
By having the right keyword you can take over other sites in the search engines who do not have relevant keywords that get good numbers of traffic. When it comes to blogging and seo, having sites with good content is a must, but if you are choosing domain names with the right keywords, you can get ahead of those sites without even writing any content! Of course you will have to start writing in order to maintain or increase your rank but having a good, targeted domain name makes it a little bit easier.
For example if you want to create a blog or website based around the idea of bodybuilding, it would be a good idea to look for high volume keywords such as 'effective bodybuilding' or 'successful bodybuilding tips'. Choosing domain names that are similar to these will definitely help you in getting a good start and getting a decent search engine ranking. This is something that every marketer should aim for if they are intending to use SEO because the higher your search engine rankings are, the more exposure your site will get and the higher number of traffic you will receive.
Being more specific though, when it comes to choosing domain names for an Internet marketing or online marketing blog, the same thing applies. You should use keywords in your domain name that have a good search volume but not a high competition level. This is because the higher the competition level is, the more difficult it will be for you to get a decent ranking at the start. Using just something like 'online marketing' should be avoided because the competition level is immense for that keyword. Aim for long tail keywords such as '(your name) internetmarketingsecrets' because this will be easier to rank for and you are branding yourself.
That's pretty much everything to it guys. Choose your domain name wisely though as it can make all the difference between getting a good ranking and not getting ranked at all.
