Knowing how to structure a website is something that not too many people write about. Even though it is not a huge topic that if you do right, will spit out money for you, but doing it right can be the difference between a lot of things. For example readers staying on your site and leaving. Search engine spiders indexing your content or not. Both of these play a major role if you are an online marketer thirsty for results like a vampire is for blood! In this article I will tell you how to structure a website and what the benefits are of doing this.
Many of you experienced and intermediate to advanced marketers will already have a site which maybe, or may not be bringing you results. I really don't know, but what I do know is that structuring your website in one of two ways can create different results. Structure it in the wrong way, and your results will be very limited or you may not get any! But if you know how to structure a website in the right way which I will share with you, it can create a whole different ball game and bring you massive results.
The best thing you can do is keep things simple. One reason why marketers do not get any results is because they overcomplicate things and make things more complex than what they should be. We all know that technology is advancing and with that there are so many new things coming out. Of course staying up to date will help you, but if you do not know how to structure a website in ways that are simple to follow and understand, you will be making it difficult for external sources such as search engine spiders, search engines and more importantly your readers.
I am sure you have seen so many sites where the owner has put the appearance of the site over its level of content. In other words for them, having a pretty looking site with bright colours and flashing banners is more important than the content on the site. I am not against using banners or anything but you really don't need 10 flashing banners on the side and 3 at the top. This is not the way of how to structure a website when it comes to the on-page features because that will only slow down the loading speed and the slower the page loads, the quicker the reader will leave.
Another thing you should do and this goes without saying, is organize the site or blog. You should have various pages or tabs at the top and categories that your content goes under. This is the right way of how to structure a website because having a site that is user-friendly and easy to navigate around, will benefit you a lot more because not only will it be easier for people to travel around your site, but it will also increase your chances of them staying and checking out other content. The messier and unorganized the site is, the lower the chances of readers staying.
Another reason why that is the right way of how to structure a website is because it will make it easier for the search engine spiders to crawl your site and index the content you have created. There are many reasons why you should have a blog or website, and one of those reasons is to get ranked in the search engines and get traffic. The better and higher your search engine rankings are, the more traffic and the more leads you will get. If your content is everywhere and your site structure is like a maze, it will be difficult to get your content indexed and ranked.
They are just a few ideas you should keep in mind regardless of if you have a site or not. As I said at the start, it is not a massive factor that will bring you automatic leads or residual income, but knowing how to structure a website in the right way will contribute to you getting more traffic and more leads. :-)
