There are times when you need your colour printer to just work . You press the print button and you wait. You wait some more, and finally you come to the irritating conclusion that it s not going to happen when suddenly the printer groans, comes to life, and begins to print the first page. What happened? Why doesn t it print the way it used to? There could be quite a few reasons associated with this phenomenon.

The first one is the speed of your actual computer. The command reaching the printer has a lot to do with how fast your computer can issue the command. If it is not issuing the command at the speed it used to anymore, then you definitely need to have a look at your computer and determine what could have gone wrong with it.

One of the most common problems with computer is spyware. This is unwanted software that infects your computer and literally spies on your activity. Whether this is someone trying to destroy your computer from the inside out, or a company doing consumer research, it doesn t matter. What does matter is the fact that it is slowing your computer down and it needs to stop.

Download an anti spyware program and purge those nasty programs from your computer. You can either pay for such programs or you can obtain one for free. Once you run one of these programs however, your computer should speed up considerably. There are other things that infect your computer however. Some of them are malware, adware, and possibly even viruses. There are counter programs for each and everyone of these, and you can even download a cleaner for your computer that will get rid of your temporary files, which will speed up your computer in general.

Of course when you want to speed up your printer, there is one other, and more obvious thing that you can try. You can actually reduce the quality of the printed page. This will do two things. The first thing it will do is lower the amount of colour ink used in the printing job. The second thing it will do is print much faster. You will not get a sharp, high quality image, but you will get your paper back faster, and if you are preparing for a presentation or just want a rough draft to show others, speed is everything.

Sometimes just cleaning the various components and ensuring that the printer is free from any dust and muck that could be clogging up the system. If you haven’t done this before it may be one thing to consider, particularly before you start considering consigning it to a scrapheap. Often it’s the simplest thing that goes wrong with technology, and sometimes it’s the simplest solutions that get the best results.

These are a few of the ways that you can speed up your colour printer. Keep in mind that if you have an older printer it might not speed up much. Some of the older printers were actually the forerunners in the industry, and while at the time they were great, they have begun to outlive their use; becoming relics fit for a museum. Sure they might have sentimental value, but that just means they belong in a glass display case. As for newer printers, they can put out papers rather quickly, so do everything you can to speed them up and increase your productivity.
