It is almost imossible to walk through Mothercare without noticing all of the fantastic and breathtaking objects that parents-to-be need to have before the new infant arrives. Movie stars nurseries are on display in magazines for all the world to see, and you are wondering how you will be able to afford an adorable little baby's room for the little one. Everything is extremely pricey, layettes are custom-made and walls are painted with one-of-a-kind murals. The list of must-haves is limitless from clothes to furniture, and trimmings to toys. It is enough to break any account.
I am here to tell you to reject the temptation of thinking that your baby needs to have everything new. Many of the items that you buy are going to be used for a very short time. Save your money for things that will be getting used for a lot more time. And use your own talents to produce a one-of-a-kind nursery for that little one.
There is ways to find everything you will need, and many of the things you really want, and still have cash left over. You'll have fun finding things and realize that you have been very levelheaded about the new baby's gear. Above all, you have to think 'safety'.
You won't need to do the whole lot before the baby arrives, it can be a good idea to have a good list of the safety issues that have to be sorted out when you get your baby's gear. A lot of companies will and do offer a lot of great recommendations on buying baby cribs, baby strollers, high chairs, and car seats on the internet. Whether you buy the most costly products or borrow from mates, make sure you do not disregard current safety regulations. Older items, borrowed or picked up in a sale, may not meet with the current safety regulations. These are not a bargain. Say no and find items which are safe for the baby.
It is possible to create a beautiful baby's room on a medium sized budget.
Use Hand-Me-Downs:
The best way to save you cash on nursery furnishings is to accept gifts from other new mothers. Many parents are happy to pass along things that their baby has outgrown or does not want anymore. If you have a good friend or relative with a baby 3 to 6 months older than yours, they would be just the right ones to ask. Things will be up to date and their child will have no use for the items. An infant bassinette or cradle is helpful for less than about 3 months. After that, their baby should be in a crib.
Next, if things aren't offered as gifts, ask to borrow the key items you'll will need. You might have a friend that has a 3 year old who does not need the crib anymore. They will be particularly happy to have you store the crib for a couple of years or until they want it again.
Lots of people have baby items they just don't know how to get rid of. They might not be prepared to totally give them away, or they could think they'll use the items again. Maybe they do not want to go to the trouble of having a garage sale. Ask them to pass the items your way. You might be able to make good use of them.
