Creating smart goals is a very special topic because it is something that runs by itself and has its own course and possibilities. For example some people do not even set themselves these types of goals despite knowing everything about them? Are you one of those people? Some people do not set themselves any goals at all and decide to do just continue doing what they are doing hoping for the best and there is nothing wrong with that. Then there are a group of people who have been creating smart goals for themselves and working as diligently as possible in order to achieve them and when they do finally achieve them, boy are the outcomes freaking unbelievable.

Creating smart goals is the way forward

In life and in business creating smart goals is the best way to remind yourself and get yourself focused for the task and journey you are about to travel on. Even if you are not a smart or intelligent person, nothing is stopping you from creating these types of goals. However if you are not doing this, the consequences are that the chances of you achieving your goals will be very unlikely because they will not adhere to the factors I am about to drop on you. You see one reason why the majority of Internet and network marketers fail and never get anywhere is because they do not set themselves smart goals.

Just in case you do not know, the word smart is an acronym for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time limited. Creating smart goals is one of the main reasons why many top Internet and network marketers are seeing massive success online and offline. These do not just apply to online marketers though because no matter what industry you are in, this type of goal setting can easily come in to action and make an impact if you allow it to. That is not all though because as I mentioned earlier, you can also set, and use these types of goals in general life no matter what you want to achieve.

So now we know that creating smart goals is the way forward, lets break it down a little and comb out the details. The reason this acronym is so powerful is because of what it symbolises. For example let's start with the letter S which stands for specific. Setting yourself a specific goal will give you more of a chance of actually accomplishing that goal because you will know exactly what to do and exactly what needs to be done to get there. The second feature when it comes to creating smart goals is that they need to be measurable. You need to do something that will help you measure your journey to accomplishment. For example you could write daily diary entries or record yourself on tape stating your daily activities and how they contribute to achieving your goal.

Now that we have the specific and measurable points under our belt, the next thing we need to think about when setting goals is is that goal actually achievable? You would not be creating smart goals if your goal was not achievable to begin with. For example creating a goal stating that you will get MLM leads when you do not even know how to get them, is not an achievable goal because if you do not educate yourself on how to do something, how will you do it? Being realistic is the fourth feature of setting yourself smart goals. People will have different opinions on this one, but I believe that you do have to be realistic to an extent. For example it is unrealistic to set yourself the goal of getting daily blog traffic if you only write content once a month. It just will not happen guys.

The final factor and feature of creating smart goals is that you need to set a deadline and have a time limit which will keep you on your toes. Every goal should have a realistic deadline because if it doesn't have a deadline, then your chances of achieving that goal will be very slim, and it would not really be a goal. It would be more like a wish, a wish that may never come true. One example of a smart goal is the following:

I will be earning an extra $10,000 a month by June 2012. I will do this by taking consistent action and putting in more of an effort into my business on a daily basis.

That is an example of a smart goal and even though it may not be the best example, it still does the job because it complies with all the factors of the smart acronym. Setting these type of goals are a lot more effective than setting just the regular ones because they are more specific and the more specific they are, the higher your chances of achieving them. Remember, creating smart goals is one of the reasons why many marketers are achieving their dreams, so if they can do it, there is absolutely nothing stopping you from doing the same. :-)
