When you are trying to figure out the best way to get around town, the first thing that you have to think of what the possible ways are to transport yourself via the various public transportation options that you have available to you. For instance, if you live in the great state of New York and reside in New York City, then chances are that you will not have a problem finding an alternate way around besides constantly having to use your car.
For other areas of the country, getting from place to place is a bit more tricky. For example, if you live in a more rural part of the country or in an area where the nearest store is at least twenty miles away, then it may not be quite as practical to call a cab. However, you can still come up with other ideas for getting from place to place. One such way is to start a carpool in your neighborhood. Carpools are quickly becoming a country favorite among Americans all around the country. Part of this is due to the fact that gas prices have grown increasingly over the past few years. Remember when you were paying over $4 per gallon at the pump? Well, it seems as if many people have learned a harsh lesson from the gas craze and have taken to learning how to simply park their cars in their garages. As a result, more people are also finding themselves getting more exercise than ever as they have begun walking to the grocery store versus driving there. They are also doing more of other things such as riding their bicycles, going for runs and even walking the dog more.
Perhaps seeking out other forms of alternate transportation is a good thing after all because it has allowed us to think of more creative ways to get around besides simply driving everywhere. Do you know that there are people who live less than a half mile from places such as convenience stores, but when they need something from the store, they will drive there instead of walk? Granted, sometimes if there is inclement weather or if you are planning on doing some serious shopping, it may make more sense to drive yourself versus walk or wait for a ride from someone else. But think of how different the world would be if we actually drove less and walked more; if we ran more instead of walked..The obesity rate would be almost nonexistent and the air would be significantly cleaner because of the reduced number of cars. Also, don t forget about the fact that because there would be less vehicles on the road, this would mean that there would be a reduced number (hypothetically) of people getting into accidents; and it wouldn t take as long to get places because traffic jams would be reduced.
The next time you are faced with the choice to either drive or get exercise, which option are you going to choose? Think about the cost of driving your car, and the decision will make itself.
