Audi are perhaps not quite the first car manufacturer that I would think of if challenged to come up with a manufacturer with expertise in the SUV area. After all, there are plenty of obvious SUV choices, and the full list of brands who produced something in the right area is pretty darn extensive. When I think about it a bit more, however, it is actually quite clear that Audi have a small but concise range of impressively high quality SUVs.
Of course, one could argue that Audi never do anything that isn t high quality. The charge highly for their expertise, and the cars match those prices, often clocking in at over 50 grand, even for their lower down models. A used Audi dealership will save you money, but even still! The entire range shows an impressive spectrum of sizes, shapes and engines, meaning that they have something respected in the car community for ever person who wants one. Hatchback, saloon, estate you name it, Audi have it.
For their SUV range, Audi have kept the different models minimal. Essential there are three different species of the German car brands influential SUVs, and two of them are actually impressively affordable. The third? Well, just you wait, as Audi s third and final SUV is something worth waiting for, even if you really don t want to.
OK, first comes the Audi Q5 SUV. Starting at 26600, these are little compact cars, concerned more with a range of extensive off road all terrain features rather than with being the biggest car in the garage. I am not used to seeing an Audi, let alone an SUV, coming in at these kinds of prices, so it is a little bit of a revelation all by itself. The fact that the Q5 is actually kitted out quite impressively for its comparatively low cost is all the more impressive. You have fancy ESP systems for off road sensitivity, a decent 2.0 litre engine that is more than enough for an everyday SUV fans, a smart leather interior and even a panoramic roof. Nice!
Things get a little more serious with the Audi Q7 model. A good 10k more expensive, this model is a little bit like a Q5 on steroids, pumped and ready to go! Smarter, larger, packed to the brim with technology this is the luxury model for off roading experts. Of course, you can just drive it to work and back, but if you aren t navigating a mountain in the middle then it seems somewhat of a waste, like caging a wild mountain lion! This car comes with a 3.0 TDI clean diesel engine good for your drive and good for the environment.
Finally comes the really patriarch of the group, the Q7 V12. The price skyrockets for this, and with good reason everything you could ever need is packed into this mighty SUV. Firstly, no matter how off road you go, this car is luxurious incredibly so. The Bang and Olufsen speakers make listening to even the worst music a pleasure, whilst the nappa leather soothes you in your sleep. The crowning glory? The 6.0 litre V12 TDI engine need I say more?
