Turkish Airlines was founded in May of 1933, not too long before the break out of World War II. With only four aircraft capable of taking 23 passengers in total, they had a humble start. Their fleet did not see another plane until 1945. Currently, they took reception of a Boeing 777-300ER, the first of twelve, that is the most advanced intercontinental airplane. The company has become more and more profitable over the past five years, largely due to their aggressive route expansion strategy. It appears that Turkish Airlines has truly learned some important lessons from the time when they couldn't fly more than 23 passengers at once.
In October 2010, Turkish Airlines announced to the world that it planned on expanding more during 2011. Of course that is great news for this rapidly growing European airline. The Turkish Ministry of Transport released the news of eleven new destinations this year. Starting in March, Turkish Airlines will fly to Shiraz, Iran four times a week. As for the US, in early March we'll see four weekly flights to Los Angeles, California. This is wonderful news for the west coast of the United States. Added countries consist of China, Greece, Spain, France and 3 locations in Italy. Manchester United, the English soccer team, signed a contract with Turkish Airlines in October of 2010, after intense negotiations. Manchester United will be featured in a TV ad that will present the new concept Turkish Airlines has for business travel. There are many reasons that both sides find this a great project. The concept of the adverts is to have some of the team's most reputable players enjoying their business class experience with Turkish Airlines.
Turkish Airlines has developed and adopted a new form of travel known as Comfort Class. This service is only offered by the airline on their new fleet of Boeing 777 airplanes. This takes the comfort of flying to a whole new level with seats that are almost 46 inches wide. Thus, you can either relax in four feet of seat or have plenty of space for anything else you have with you. Boeing 777s are pretty big airplanes, meant for long-haul flights, a fact that you should keep in mind. Miles earned in the Turkish Airlines Miles and Smiles card can be redeemed for a ticket in Comfort Class or an upgrade to this class. Within the new millennium, Turkish Airlines has experienced a lot of unprecedented growth and success. This company clearly has been making all the right marketing moves with the number of high profile sports celebrities they have signed-on. They are aggressively pursuing new and expansive market reach which runs in parallel with an international campaign of brand awareness. But they are also seeing good things due to their actions. They have been the recipients of international industry awards for service and marketing. We feel this is a rare business example of the cooperation of government and civilian management that actually produces impressive results.
