1. Submit your website to the Open Directory Project (DMOZ) and other free directories with high PageRank.

2. Write interesting articles for online article directories like Ezine Articles or Go Articles, and article syndication services like Isnare.

3. Post comments on blog posts that are related to your website s niche and include your link in the website box.

4. Start a blog and submit it to the 100’s of free blog directories. Technorati is a good place to start.

5. Post in online forums related to your niche and include your name, some brief information and a link to your website in the signature.

6. Optimize individual pages of your website for keywords and search phrases. Use Google s Keyword Tool or Google Insights to find popular keywords worth targeting.

7. Include a social bookmark sharing button on your blog and articles so that your visitors can easily share your content on popular social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Reddit and Delicious.

8. Add an RSS feed to your blog and syndicate your content on blog syndication websites. Encourage your visitors to subscribe to your RSS feed. Get a Feedburner account to make e mail subscriptions easier.

9. Create an online profile page for your blog or business on Squidoo that syndicates your RSS feed and links back to your main website.

10. Sign up for a Twitter account and regularly tweet about new content that you put on your blog. Include a link back to your website in your Twitter profile.

11. Get a Google Webmaster Central account and add an XML Sitemap for your website. Also enable enhanced image search in your Webmaster account to increase the amount of traffic you get from Google.

12. When using internal links to point to important content on your website, use important keywords and search phrases in the link anchor.

13. If you have a blog, contact other bloggers in your area or niche and request that you exchange links on your individual blogrolls.

14. Update your content at least 2 3 times a week to keep your content fresh and ensure that the Googlebot regularly indexes your website.

15. Get the StumbleUpon toolbar and regularly stumble your best content.

16. Always name your images using the Title and ALT tags that describe your images. Since the Googlebot can’t read images, ALT tags are important.

17. Review products on Eopinon and answer questions on Yahoo Answers. Include a link to your site in your signature. It is also a good idea to add your link to your e mail signature.

18. When you create online profiles on websites like Flickr, Facebook or LinkedIn, always include a link back to your website.

19. Look at other websites in your niche and see who links to them so you can get some good backlink ideas. Use the Yahoo Link Explorer to see your competitors’ backlinks. Simply type in link:www.example to see the list.

20. Syndicate a well written and compelling press release and e mail it to journalists and bloggers. Also submit it to PRWeb and PRLeap.
